Long Wool Rug Product Care

Washing

All Shear StyleTM  long wool rugs are best dry cleaned. They can also be machine or hand washed in warm water (38°C) using a mild liquid detergent. Any of the commercial brands of wool wash are perfect for the job. Do not use commercial washing powder as this can wash out the natural oils in the sheepskin pile and your rug may feel dry to the touch. Use the wool wash or gentle cycle on your washing machine. Spin to remove excess water.

Drying

Flat dry or hang over a chair in an outside position away from the heat of direct sunlight. Stretch to shape while damp. Do not dry using artificial heat such as hanging the rug over a radiator. Do not tumble dry.

Brushing

After washing, the wool may revert back to its natural curly state. You can help restore the fluffy appearance by brushing the wool while it is wet and again when it is dry. First give the wet rug a good shake then use a wire pet brush or similar and brush out the natural curl while wet and again when dry.

Baby Products Care and Usage

Cozy MateTM and Cozy TravelerTM Care

Cozy MateTM and Cozy TravelerTM products are best dry cleaned. They can be hand washed or machine washed on a wool or gentle cycle using mild liquid detergents or wool wash. Do not use commercial washing powders or liquids which may strip the wool of its natural oils and leave the lambskin feeling dry and rough to the touch. Wool wash is available at most major supermarket chains. For drying do not put the rug in direct hot sun. Filtered sunlight is acceptable. Drape over clothes line or over a chair on a veranda, wool side up for one day and then turn over with leather hide side up for another day or until dry to the touch. Do not tumble dry.

We recommend when using the Cozy MateTM as a bedding item that you cover the Cozy MateTM with a fitted sheet for use with infants under 12 months of age.

Cozy StepsTM are not machine washable. Sponge off any dirty spots with a damp cloth or gently hand wash with a wool wash or mild liquid detergent.

Underlays / Floor Rugs

Underlays or floor rugs should be commercially steam or dry cleaned on a needs basis. For underlay and rug care, regular brushing with a wire pet brush will fluff up the pile keeping it high and supportive.
